Officials confirm that a natural gas main break in Ithaca was caused by construction in the area.
A two inch main along Dryden Road in Collegetown ruptured around 11 a.m. Thursday.
NYSEG officials say the main was hit by a contractor digging nearby.
There were no injuries from the leak, but gas service had to be cut to three local businesses.
The leak was brought under control in about half an hour, and service was restored by 3 p.m.
